Introductions

Hi, I'm Kellean. Mom calls me Kells, much to my irritation. I figured, since we'll be taking an intimate journey together I would tell you a little about myself – my favorite subject. I have the most seductive green eye's you've ever seen, an I.Q. of one eighty, and a mind for strategy worthy of a chessmaster. I'm eighteen as of last month though showing no signs of escaping the nest. That's mostly because I have Duchenne's muscular dystrophy. For all those not in the know, it's an extremely progressive form of muscular dystrophy that kills ninety percent of patients by age thirty. Not that I'm complaining, it's a reality I have known all my life.
My father is General Armstrong Pembroke of the Space Navy Defense force. His fifteen-year posting to Galileo Space station, orbiting earth, gave me a more active life than my planet-bound brothers. I was able to move around on my own in the half-gee environment and respiratory problems were a nonissue in the clean air. Doctors said I might even live to forty.
That all changed when father was reduced to an administrative position on Earth. His worst nightmare, and mine.
It would be my pleasure to take you on a tour of that piece of my life, if you dare.
Oh, and did I mention my flare for the dramatic. Well you'll see soon enough.
